After two seasons it’s over: The comedy series “Avenue 5” with “Dr. House” star Hugh Laurie is discontinued. HBO announced this.

The sci-fi comedy series “Avenue 5” is canceled and will not get a third season. This is reported, among other things, by “The Hollywood Reporter” citing US premium cable channel HBO. “We will not be doing a third season of ‘Avenue 5’,” HBO told US magazine.

“Avenue 5”: Comedy series takes place on a space cruise

In “Avenue 5”, “Dr. House” star Hugh Laurie (63) embodies the captain of a space cruise ship that goes off course in the near future. Other roles included Josh Gad (41), Zach Woods (38) and Himesh Patel (32). The production of the second season of “Avenue 5” was significantly delayed by the corona pandemic. The new episodes only started last October on HBO – more than two years after the series premiere.

Meanwhile, lead actor Laurie has already landed a new engagement. As was announced just a few days ago, he will appear in the third season of the spy series “Tehran”. The Israeli production is available internationally on the Apple TV+ streaming service.
