The diving facility in the outdoor pool on the outskirts of a large city can be used as a symbol of how the way children are treated has changed. The tower with the five, seven-and-a-half and ten-meter jumps looks exactly the same today as it did in the mid-1980s, with a few minor exceptions. And yet there is one significant difference: Back then, there were crowds of young people standing around the diving facility, and the five-meter jump was particularly crowded and chaotic. Today, a traffic light at the foot of the tower regulates the jumping traffic. No more than one person is allowed on the facility, and the supervisory staff make extensive use of the whistle as soon as misbehavior is imminent. Safety is the top priority.
