Attempted murder against the former “CEO” of a narcotics outlet

Zaire Laribi, former “CEO” of the narcotics outlet in the Marseille city of La Castellane was the victim of an attempted homicide on July 11, a-t- we learned this Tuesday from judicial and police sources. Nicknamed “General Z”, Zaire Laribi, 43, was targeted by several shots while he was in the town of Rove, bordering Marseille, by several men in a car.

An investigation was opened for attempted homicide in an organized gang and the judicial police were seized, said the prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence.

A sprawling traffic

During his trial in December 2017, along with 26 other defendants, all tried for sprawling drug trafficking dismantled in June 2015 in the northern districts of Marseille, Zaire Laribi was presented by the prosecution as “the CEO” of the “plan stups” by La Castellane, a man who knew how to stay “away from the working class, without getting his hands dirty”.

He had been sentenced to ten years in prison, the maximum incurred, with a two-thirds security measure. He was also fined 500,000 euros. Since the beginning of the year, 24 people have lost their lives in Marseille, against a backdrop of struggles between clans for control of drug trafficking which plagues the Marseille city.
