At the end of June, the soils of a village probed to find the remains of German soldiers

After the sensational revelations of a former sniper from Corrèze, now 98 years old, we know that around forty German soldiers were executed on June 12, 1944, while they were prisoners of war in Meymac in Corrèze.

An operation carried out with the VDK

On the indications of the nonagenarian, “a soil analysis campaign by georadar will be organized at the end of June by the departmental office of veterans of Corrèze as well as the VDK (German organization responsible for the maintenance of German war graves), under the authority of the prefect of Corrèze”, announces the prefecture of Corrèze in a press release this Wednesday.

If the research is conclusive and the remains are discovered, they will be handed over to the VDK, which will proceed to “their exhumation and reburial in a German military cemetery”, completes the press release.
