His star role was Uncle Krischain in the NDR home series “News from Büttenwarder”: actor Hans Kahlert died in Hamburg.
His face was seen several times in “Tatort”, but he had his greatest role in a home series: The actor Hans Kahlert is dead. As the North German Broadcasting announced on Tuesday, Kahlert died on Monday at the age of 87 in Hamburg.
Since 2005 he has appeared in the popular NDR regional series “News from Büttenwarder” as “Uncle Krischan” in front of the camera. Kahlert also appeared in several “Tatort” episodes, including with TV inspectors Klaus Schwarzkopf and Manfred Krug. He was also a supporting actor several times in the previous evening series “Großstadtrevier”.
“It is a great art for an actor to embody people who are many years or even decades older than themselves,” said the NDR program director for television, Frank Beckmann, in recognition of the merits. “As the 106-year-old Uncle Krischan, Hans Kahlert played his way into the hearts of Büttenwarder fans. His fine, modest manner made him stand out. We deeply regret his death. ” There will be one last reunion at Christmas. Then the last four «Büttenwarder» episodes are shown on NDR television.
Kahlert was born in 1934 in Riga, Latvia. As a 20-year-old, he took private acting lessons without his parents’ knowledge – he secretly earned the money in a factory. He made his stage debut in “Nathan the Wise” at the Summer Games in Dinkelsbühl. Numerous positions at various theaters in Germany followed. From 1983 on, Kahlert was seen at the Karl May Festival, first in Elspe, then in Bad Segeberg.
On the occasion of the death of Hans Kahlert, NDR television is changing its program and will be showing a documentary about Hans Kahlert – “Onkel Krischan – The Old Man and the Village” from 2016 – and the “News from Büttenwarder “Follow the” Treasure Hunt “episode (5:00 pm).
