There’s certainly more comfortable places for a five-year-old to hang out than a phone booth-sized plastic booth. Marco still has to climb into it today, sit on a stool and blow into the mouthpiece of a measuring device: “Take a really deep breath,” says the medical-technical assistant. And: “Blow, blow, blow!” Two years ago, such a test showed that the breathing problems that Marco sometimes has, the whistling over his lungs, are probably the result of asthma. Today he appeared again in the Christiane-Herzog outpatient clinic in the Hauner Children’s Hospital in Munich, because the doctors want to check with a lung function test: is the diagnosis correct, and if so, has his medication helped him?
