A conspiracy believer calls on his followers via Telegram messenger to disrupt authorities and doctors’ offices. His readers should “bombard” the places in order to “keep them off guard” with phone calls and emails. They threaten, insult and coerce employees of certain authorities. Now the operator of the Telegram channel will probably have to go to prison for this. The Munich I Regional Court sentenced him to a prison sentence of two years and ten months.
The court considered the operation of the channel to be part of a criminal organization dpa with reference to a communication from the court. It is said that the defendant was the ringleader, a follower of a “crude mixture of conspiracy theories that were based, among other things, on the so-called Reichsbürger scene.”
The channel also gave members the opportunity to actively participate. The defendant used the channel to publicly call for crimes against authorities whose actions he did not like.
The calls from the channel’s followers led to significant restrictions, with some authorities even being closed for several days. Some of those affected also suffered significant psychological impairments. The defendant himself also insulted employees of authorities and doctors’ offices “with foul language”.
In addition to being part of a criminal organization, the responsible criminal chamber found him guilty of a number of other crimes. The verdict is not yet final.
