Mélenchon ahead of Marseille
Beaten in most of the major cities in the region, Marine Le Pen was beaten by Jean-Luc Mélenchon in Marseille and Avignon, as in 2017. At the department level, the RN candidate dominated this first round, with scores of 29.43% in Vaucluse, 26.25% in Bouches-du-Rhône, 30.61% in Var, 26, 64% in the Alpes-Maritimes or 26.90% in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
