World champions Argentina are defending champions at the upcoming Copa América. In the last friendly match, Lionel Messi put an end to any doubts about his form and fitness with a gala performance.

Lionel Messi scored a brace in his comeback to the starting eleven for the Argentine national team and was in brilliant form in the last test before the Copa América.

The 36-year-old also provided the assist for a goal in the World Cup’s 4-1 win over Guatemala in Landover. The superstar played 35 minutes in the 1-0 win against Ecuador last Sunday. He missed the international matches in March due to thigh problems.

Messi looked fit against Guatemala and underlined his form not only with the equaliser and the final goal. He also scored a free kick that hit the goal post, a strong pass before the penalty that Lautaro Martínez converted to make it 2-1, and the assist that made it 3-1.

Argentina is the defending champion at the Copa América and will play against Canada in its opening match on Thursday in Atlanta.
