SLate risers don’t have it easy in life. Getting to school or work on time is a real challenge for them. They are branded as unproductive sleepyheads because hardly anyone notices that they are working at their best at night. And then they have to listen to sayings like “the early bird catches the worm” and “the early bird catches the worm”. But the late risers’ battered self-confidence is getting a boost: the brains of people who get up late and go to bed late, also known as “owls” by sleep researchers, have better thinking and memory skills than those of early risers, the “larks”, according to a new study from Great Britain. Owls are therefore smarter than larks.
