Architect Joachim Schürmann died – culture

Of

Gerhard Matzig

Long before the construction costs of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg had increased tenfold, long before the new airport in Berlin became the hot spot of the world, the so-called Schürmann building became the grandmother of all German building scandals. But woe betide if someone from the editor decides to delete the “so-called” from this text. Because, firstly, the scandal on the Rhine is still called exactly that, Schürmann-Bau, and secondly, many years ago the architect Joachim Schürmann was promised on the phone that the so-called Schürmann-Bau would henceforth only be called the so-called Schürmann-Bau.
