Archbishop’s “forgiveness” to the faithful after the imprisonment of a priest for rape

He went to the church of Montfort-sur-Meu (Ille-et-Vilaine), where the incarcerated abbot officiated. This Sunday morning, the Archbishop of Rennes Mgr Pierre d’Ornellas celebrated a mass and expressed his “pardon” to dozens of faithful, still in shock. Their priest, a 52-year-old man, is indeed accused of aggravated rape of a teenager and provocation of a minor to use narcotics. He was indicted and imprisoned a few days ago in Paris.

“You put your trust in a priest who for you celebrated the sacraments and preached the word of God. Suddenly, the image you had of this priest is shattered. I heard your pain. How to understand the unacceptable? (…) How do you speak to the young people you have a mission to educate?, said Bishop Pierre d’Ornellas. As bishop, in the name of the church, I ask your forgiveness for the suffering and mistrust that this engenders in you. »

The priest has HIV

The priest and the 15-year-old miner reportedly met on the Grindr dating app and met in the capital. They would have gone up to a hotel room in which the priest would have offered several drugs to the young boy which would have made him sick. According to several sources familiar with the matter, who confirmed information from the Parisian, the priest is HIV-positive and is on triple therapy. The man allegedly did not tell the teenager and did not protect himself during intercourse.
