Apps, interactive maps… How to find a gas station to fill up this weekend

The galley continues for motorists. The strike movement in the French refineries of TotalEnergies was renewed on Friday “by a very large majority”. The number of service stations encountering supply difficulties fell slightly on Friday at midday, to 28.5% against 29.2% the previous evening, according to the Ministry of Energy Transition.

Fuel deliveries from the Donges refinery, near Saint-Nazaire, should take place “sporadically” during the weekend to “ease tensions”, announced the CGT. But it will still be very difficult this weekend to fill up at a gas station. Until the situation improves, 20 minutes provides an update on the sites and applications for locating the stations supplied near you.

  • The government’s interactive map

In September, the government launched an interactive map available on the site fuel-prices.gouv.fr. It lists all service stations that still have diesel or gasoline. With this map, which is regularly updated, it is possible to search by type of fuel, by type of retailer, by department or by city. Just click on the little red pump that shows you the supply level of the selected station.

  • The TotalEnergies interactive map

On its website, TotalEnergies has posted a map listing all its stations in France and around the world. After indicating an address and a type of fuel, the map displays the stations supposed to be supplied. The map is “regularly updated”, hour by hour, according to the French group. It is also available via a smartphone application.

  • The collaborative card “shortage my essence”

The penurie.mon-essence website offers a map that lists the service stations open and the fuels available. Fuel prices are also displayed, allowing you to choose the cheapest station. It is updated in real time based on indications made by users, combined with the official government map. This interactive map is available as an application on Essence & CO.

  • The “Gas Now” app

It is the most downloaded application since the beginning of the strike movement. The data supplied by Internet users, and combined with the government map, is updated very regularly. User feedback is also available, including whether there is a queue.

It offers a map of open service stations updated in real time. The app allows you to specifically select stations offering the desired fuel (SP95, SP98, diesel, etc.) Gaspal also allows you to compare fuel prices between stations in order to find the cheapest fuel near you. The app also works in Spain and Italy.

The mobile navigation assistance application (GPS) also makes it possible to know the availability of fuel at service stations. It offers information at the pump in real time thanks to feedback from its users.
