For a few months now, customers in Germany have also been able to order spare parts for iPhones and MacBooks directly from Apple. Apple is now expanding the range to include components for a number of other products that are only available in the USA, at least for the time being. Apple now also offers replacement parts for the current 24-inch iMac (approx. 1,500 euros on Amazon), Mac mini, Studio Display, and Mac Studio.
on Apple’s website Repair manuals are also provided which must be opened before the purchase of a replacement part can be completed. However, Apple makes it a little more difficult than necessary for customers to buy the components they want. Because in order to be able to see the available spare parts, the serial number of your own device must be specified. This serial number is used to prevent possible upgrades.
For example, Apple offers a replacement panel for the Studio Display that costs $879.12 with a glossy finish and $967.12 with Apple’s nano-texture glass—but customers can only order the same panel at a time, already installed in your studio display, so it is not possible to use the repair as an opportunity to switch to a different surface finish. The tools needed for the repair can be rented for $49. The prices for desktop computers are also designed in such a way that in many cases it is more worthwhile simply paying Apple for the repair.
