Apertura Stela: “Uncomplicated” floorstanding loudspeakers from France

Eric Poyer and Christian Yvon are the two founders and developers of Apertura Audio, a small French manufacturer in tranquil Puceul on the connecting axis between Rennes and Nantes. With the Stela model, the two present a new passive two-way floorstanding speaker.

The new Stela wants to make the good genes of the more delicate Sensa model, which according to Apertura is predestined for small rooms, available for somewhat larger rooms. The specifications also included developing a loudspeaker that can be driven by standard amps without any problems and that also guarantees a lot of playing fun if the set-up is not completely perfect.

The Apertura Stela are each equipped with two mid-bass drivers, which you already think you already know from the Sensa, but now come with a special 15-ohm voice coil to make them a little “faster”, according to the press release. In contrast to the smaller Apertura models, the tweeter of the Stela, a ring radiator, is equipped with a more complex double magnet.

In addition, the crossover has been revised – among other things, capacitors from Jantzen and resistors from Vishay are used – and the connection terminals have been placed a little higher on the shelf. Apertura specifies a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and a sensitivity of 88 dB/2.83V/1m for the Stela.

The case contains four internal stiffeners that separate it into five sections, each of which is lined with four different absorption materials.

The Apertura Stela are available in four versions: high-gloss black and white, as well as oak and walnut, each in a satin finish. The pair price is 4,600 euros.
