Another trial awaits “sovereign citizens” who do not “contract” with the State. Pierre L. was summoned, this Tuesday, to court for violence against a gendarme and refusal to submit to an inspection, on April 1 (this cannot be made up!), in Esquelbecq, near Dunkirk, in the North.
He considered that he did not have to submit to French laws. The hearing was postponed to April 1, 2025 (definitely!) but the defendant could also find himself before the Valence court, in Drome.
Dissemination of their image without their consent
Thus, the two gendarmes, who were filmed by Pierre L.’s wife during the traffic stop which got out of hand, did not appreciate finding themselves on social networks with millions of views to boot. They decided to file a complaint against the conspiratorial couple a few days after the events, for disseminating their image without their consent, according to France Bleu.
In fact, we can clearly see in the video, which quickly went viral, the two agents carrying out the somewhat surreal check. The couple lives in the Drôme, and the Valence prosecutor received the complaint. The investigation is still ongoing.
