The early morning hours of October 3rd, 2022, the season opening party is going on in the Aschauer club “Eiskeller”, and a few minutes before half past two there are two people walking nearby. 20-year-old Sebastian T., who is seen on his nightly jog in the festival hall parking lot. And 23-year-old student Hanna W., who makes the 885-meter walk home to her parents’ house. She will never get there. Do young people meet each other?
A few hours later, in the early afternoon, Hanna W.’s body was found in the Prien, almost twelve kilometers away from Aschau. The forensic experts are assuming a violent crime. The police founded the Soko “Club”, and 60 investigators now work together. After almost six weeks, they arrested the night jogger. A trial against Sebastian T. has been running before the Traunstein regional court since mid-October 2023; the public prosecutor’s office accuses him of murdering Hanna W. T. has remained silent since his arrest.
There are no DNA traces that clearly identify him as the perpetrator, and no witnesses who saw him during the alleged attack. And yet things initially don’t go well for Sebastian T in this circumstantial evidence trial. His best friend reports that he told her about the murder when no one knew about it. A fellow prisoner comes forward and tells us about a confession in the cell. But then more and more contradictions and inaccuracies arise. The verdict was actually supposed to be pronounced on December 22nd. But in order to clarify all the open questions, the process will now continue until at least February 2024.
