That comes as a surprise: presenter Anne Will leaves the talk show of the same name at the end of the year. The ARD Sunday talk should still go on. The question of who will moderate the show in the future will be exciting.

The ARD Sunday talk “Anne Will” will be discontinued at the end of the year after around 16 years. The 56-year-old will not extend the contract, the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) announced on Friday in Hamburg. NDR and ARD are in talks about a successor to the Sunday format. Details were not given.

The talk show with Anne Will has been on the ARD main program since September 2007. Will, who had previously worked as a moderator for the ARD “Tagesthemen”, took over the central slot on Sunday evening from her predecessor Sabine Christiansen, who had previously directed the ARD political talk for years.

“Anne Will” is one of the leading political talk shows on German television. According to the NDR, which cooperates with Will’s own production company in the production of the show, it reached an average of more than 3.6 million viewers and a market share of 15.1 percent in 2022.

Anne Will: Restart in 2024 with other projects

“I’ve always really enjoyed doing the show and I’m infinitely grateful for the trust in my journalistic work and the great success of our show,” Will explained. She will fulfill her current contract “with undiminished commitment and great joy”, but does not want to extend it. In 2024, a “restart” with other projects is announced.
