“The Port of Toledo” resembles a winding palazzo with several staircases, long corridors, endless suites of rooms and unexpected back doors. It is a book that is as weird as it is strange, completely out of time and magnificent in its own way, with a peculiar brilliance, just like its setting Toledo, behind which is unmistakably Naples. It rains again and again, winds whip through the miserable streets, the sea is wild and gray, the men have to go on ships and never return.
