New “Dinner for One”? Anke Engelke and Matthias Brandt can be seen in the TV short film “Kurzschluss” on New Year’s Eve.

Anke Engelke (56) and Matthias Brandt (61) accidentally lock themselves in a bank. In the short film “Kurzschluss” this happens exactly half an hour before the turn of the year. The 30-minute film will be broadcast to match the time of the action. According to the press release, WDR will show the comedy on December 31, 2022. “Kurzschluss” can be seen a day earlier in the first and in the media library. The exact broadcast times are not yet known.

“Short circuit”: That’s what the New Year’s short comedy is about

Anke Engelke plays the provincial mayor Bettina Maurer. Before the fireworks, she wants to quickly withdraw money from a bank. But the machine swallows your card. Martin (Matthias Brandt) from Berlin, who also wants to draw money quickly, pokes around in the card slot with a hairpin. In doing so, it causes a short circuit. The electrically controlled doors no longer open. The unlikely pair brought together by chance are trapped in the bank’s self-service area.

Anke Engelke is hoping for a TV classic

Matthias Brandt and Anke Engelke are in front of the camera together for the first time. “But the universe was kind to me when I shouted my wish list to the sky on New Year’s Eve a year ago: ‘Please play with Matthias Brandt at last!'” says the comedian and actress.

Engelke also speculates that “Kurzschluss” will become a long-running TV hit in the style of the New Year’s Eve sketch “Dinner for One”. “Please be part of a potential TV classic!” She had also wished for at the turn of the year. “I still can’t believe that wishes really work and I would be really happy if the viewers would like to include this special little magic film in their annual New Year’s Eve program.”
