Animations, meetings, albums at 2 euros … It’s the comic book festival on June 4 and 5

The 48H BD are back for a 9th edition on June 4 and 5, 2021 everywhere in France and Belgium – 2021 Hamo / 48H BD

Like cinema and music, comic strip festivals have been impacted by the health crisis, starting with the Angoulême international comic book festival. While it had planned a general public edition in June, the festival finally preferred to give it up. Like the Puteaux comic book festival, scheduled for the end of May and canceled, or the Bastia one, which is normally held in March and which has been postponed to September. The holding of
48H BD Friday and Saturday in France and Belgium is therefore good news. “It’s a resumption of activity for comics, and a welcome reunion with the public for booksellers,” said the president of this festival, François Capuron.

300 events throughout France and Belgium

At the initiative of 10 publishers (Ankama, Pika, Kurkawa, Soleil…), the 48H BD take the form of various events, dedications, exhibitions, drawing competitions, educational workshops… We are talking about more than 300 actions organized in bookshops, media libraries, schools or online. It even exists a map to navigate.

“We did not feel any limitations, any brakes in the requests and ideas for each event,” comments François Capuron.

Discover “Edens Zero” or “Sorceline” at 2 euros

The 48H BD are also famous for their operation “BD and manga at 2 euros”, the opportunity to be tempted by new series, all accompanied by a reading guide with interviews with the authors, as well as reading tips to go further. The 2021 selection consists of damn you (Ankama), Dance with Me (Jungle), Cizo (Kennes), Pokemon (Kuorkawa), Enola and the extraordinary animals (The gutter), Cats (Package), Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire (Step by step), Edens Zero (Pika), Frigiel and Fluffy (Sun), and Sorcelin (West winds).

According to its president, “the festival allows publishers with very different perspectives to work together, but who get along very well. This changes the logic of Angoulême, where it is above all the big publishers who have the floor ”.
