Real is also the story of comebacks. This time, it’s Carlo Ancelotti who returns. Six years later, the Italian coach – winner with the club Merengue of the Champions League 2014 – finds the bench of Real Madrid.

With the signing of Ancelotti for three seasons, which will be official on Wednesday according to the club, the “White House” will have taken less than a week to turn the page Zinédine Zidane. The Frenchman decided last Thursday to leave his club at heart, regretting the lack of confidence of his leaders over a less successful season than his first term (2016-2018).

Ancelotti was under contract with Everton

“Carletto” is not resentful: debauched from Everton, the Italian is preparing to find Madrid president Florentino Pérez, who had unceremoniously ousted him in 2015 … just one year after the conquest of “Decima”, the tenth C1 in the rich merengue history. Ancelotti was however under contract until 2024 with Everton, but the other club of Liverpool apparently failed to retain the “Mister”, whose wife is of Spanish origin and who appreciates the life of Madrid.

The return of Carlo Ancelotti (61) to succeed Zidane, his former deputy (2013-2014) is in any case a sign of appeasement sent to the stars of Merengues: the heavyweights of the locker room will welcome being again led by this benevolent technician, adept like “ZZ” of a protective management, rather than the brutal and divisive management of Antonio Conte, another contender cited for the merengue bench.

Ancelotti facing Real’s financial difficulties

During his first two seasons at Real, Ancelotti left an excellent image among the supporters and the players, among whom Karim Benzema, Raphaël Varane, Marcelo or Casemiro are still in the squad.

“Carletto” will have to rebuild the workforce despite the financial difficulties of Real, weighed down by the Covid-19 pandemic, engaged in an ephemeral private “Super League” project and monopolized by the expensive renovation of the Santiago-Bernabeu stadium.
