The Prodiss (Syndicate of musical and variety shows) wrote an open letter to Emmanuel Macron on Monday to request the validation of a test concert, to help the current music sector impacted by the Covid-19 health crisis.

“We have been working for several weeks with the AP-HP (Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris) on an experiment: the Ambition Live Again project. But for this concert-test to see the light of day, the protocol must be validated. Mr. President, we need your help ”, we can read on the Twitter account of Prodiss, which publishes this letter.

While test concerts have already been held in Barcelona or Amsterdam, this issue has become a sea serpent in France. Two projects have been launched in particular, in Marseille (at the Dôme, under the aegis of Inserm, the National Institute of Health and Medical Research, and of the Sma, Syndicat des musiques nouvelles) and in Paris (in Bercy, under the the aegis of the AP-HP and the Prodiss), and have been constantly postponed since the first proposed calendars (February and March, respectively).

Indochine and IAM are volunteers

In Bercy, the Indochine group wants to participate in the experiment. “We want to do it, to help the whole profession, to demonstrate, as in Barcelona, Amsterdam, that going to a concert (with masks) is not risky,” group leader Nicola Sirkis explained recently. We are ready, we are waiting for the signal from the authorities ”.

In Marseille, IAM volunteered. “With masks and suitable gauges, a concert is no more contaminating than the subway, the train, the plane; we took the TGV to Paris, it was a “live” of very stressed people (laughs) », Had recently exposed Akhenaton, leader of the emblematic rap group.

For a reopening of theaters in the fall

These test concerts are not taken into account for this summer – many big festivals like the Eurockéennes, have already canceled – but to prepare for a possible reopening of standing concert halls this fall.

“The health protocols are completed and sent to the authorities for validation,” recently indicated Malika Seguineau, from Prodiss. Now is the time to anticipate. We have a slow restart time. If we are told “yes” only in September, it is too late, there will be nothing in 2021 ”.
