As the NBA season unfolds with no particular emotion, the NCAA Final Four gave us a real moment of grace late that night. A dantesque semi-final between the ultra-favorite Gonzaga, undefeated since the start of the university season, and UCLA, concluded in overtime with an Ave maria shoot swayed from midfield by Jerry Slugs, who suddenly became the star of the day in the United States.

All the stars of the game are in fact used to turning on their TVs to follow this meeting which dedicates the great players of tomorrow, and all went there with their little word of congratulations for Slugs and his teammates. The best compliment? Maybe LeBron James, on twitter: “One of the best basketball games I’ve seen in a long time.” It must be said that Gonzaga had so far crushed all his opponents, and that an entire country believed that everything was going to change just before the last step. No team has won the college championship without a loss since Indiana… in 1976.

See you this Monday against Baylor, with a special eye on the back of the Gators Joël Ayayi (22 points tonight), who could become the first Habs to win the NCAA title since Joakim Noah in 2007.
