An 8-year-old girl reported missing, the alert-abduction plan triggered

The kidnapping alert plan was triggered this Wednesday evening after the disappearance overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday of an 8-year-old girl in Dunkirk (North), announced the judicial police.

Little Malek is likely to be in the presence of her father Jamel, 40, according to the text released by the police. The little girl has “long, black, curly hair” and “black eyes”. His father is “1m84”, has “black hair”, “normal build”, has “tattoos on the neck and wrist” and can be found driving a green Renault Twingo registered DM 485 GJ.

“If you locate the child or the suspect, do not intervene yourself, immediately call 197 or send an email to [email protected]”, indicates the police. Contacted by AFP, the Dunkirk prosecutor’s office did not wish to comment on the case “for the moment”.

Why trigger the alert?

The “Abduction Alert” plan is a massive and immediate alert system deployed to help in the search for a presumed abducted child. It is largely inspired by the “Amber Alert” plan, created in Texas in 1996, after the kidnapping and murder of little Amber Hagerman.

Adopted in France in February 2006, it consists of launching a massive alert in the event of the abduction of a minor child to mobilize the population in the search for the child and his abductor. It is only activated if several criteria are met: there must be a proven abduction and not a simple disappearance, the victim must be a minor, his physical integrity or his life must be in danger and information must allow him to be located. .

Its previous activation dates back to May 25 for the kidnapping of little Eya, 10, by her father in Isère. The procedure had been lifted before the girl was finally found safe and sound with her father the next day in Denmark.
