It’s a sunny day with many visitors to Legoland when two trains on a roller coaster collide. 31 passengers are injured, including ten children. Now the police are on.

The investigation into the cause of the serious roller coaster accident with 31 injuries in Günzburg’s Legoland amusement park could take several months. Police and prosecutor spokesmen said on Friday that the preparation of the accident report would probably take a few weeks or even months. Only then will there be clarity about the reason for the accident in the amusement park.

On Thursday afternoon, a train from the “Feuerdrache” roller coaster in the amusement park hit a train in front and injured 31 people – one of them seriously. On Friday, officers from the criminal police wanted to go on the roller coaster together with the expert commissioned by the public prosecutor’s office. “Operation is prohibited for that long,” said police spokesman Dominic Geißler. It is still unclear when the roller coaster will be released again. Investigators also wanted to begin questioning witnesses. “There’s a lot of work to do for the Neu-Ulm police.”

According to the company, Legoland was reopened to normal on Friday. The “Land of the Knights” area, where the roller coaster is located, is still closed, a spokeswoman said.

Ten children, one teenager and 20 adults were injured in the accident. Details about the state of health were not initially known.
