A young couple is said to have severely abused their baby, who was just a few weeks old, in the Upper Palatinate. The police in Regensburg announced on Monday that arrest warrants had been issued against the 23-year-old father and the one year younger mother on suspicion of an attempted homicide. The parents are in custody.
The incident occurred in September in a town in the Amberg-Sulzbach district. According to reports, the girl suffered serious injuries and stopped breathing. The parents had made a third person aware of the child’s condition, who in turn called the emergency doctor. The baby was resuscitated and taken to a clinic. It is now in the care of a foster family.
