In the Allgäu, a beaver dam has been destroyed by one or more unknown persons. The building was located in a biotope in Roßhaupten (Ostallgäu district) and, according to the tracks, was torn down and removed with heavy equipment, the police said on Saturday. This also resulted in massive damage in the fen area. The district office reported the incident to the police on Friday. The beaver is one of the strictly protected species in Europe and is subject to nature conservation law in Germany. A beaver dam may only be removed after official approval.
