All the answers to your questions about the admission phase which starts on Thursday

Edit of June 2, 2023: We are republishing this article from June 2022, because the advice given there is still relevant. And as the high school students of Terminale and students in reorientation began to receive the answers to their Parcoursup wishes on Thursday evening, this information will be very useful to them!

This is a highly anticipated moment if you are a senior high school student or a reorientation student. From this Thursday, June 2 at the end of the afternoon, you will begin to receive the first answers to your training wishes in Higher Education on Parcoursup.

This admission phase will take place until July 15th. On this occasion, 20 minutes organized last week a Installive on the subject with the “Mister Parcoursup” of the Ministry of Higher Education, Jérôme Teillard, who answered your questions.

What are the different possible responses to my wishes from training organizations?

“They vary according to the training courses to which you have applied”, indicates Jérôme Teillard. If you have expressed wishes for selective training (BTS, BUT, schools, IEP, etc.), three types of answers can be sent to you: “yes”, “no”, “pending”. “If you have not been accepted, you can download the decision of the training organization and ask for explanations”, specifies “Mr. Parcoursup”.

For non-selective training (license, Pass, preparatory course for school teaching, etc.), the possible answers are: “yes”, “pending” or “yes if”. “This last response means that the training is ready to welcome you, but on condition that you accept disciplinary or methodological reinforcement”, continues our expert.

What different answers can I give them?

You can accept the proposal, renounce it or keep a wish if you are on the waiting list. Jérôme Teillard gives an example: “You were accepted for a law degree, but it was not your favorite wish. In this case, you can say “yes” to this proposal, by choosing to keep the wish that you prefer and on which you are on the waiting list. »

How soon should I respond?

Each time you receive a response, it will be accompanied by a response deadline. And you will be informed by email, SMS and by a notification (if you have downloaded the Parcoursup app). “If you receive a proposal between June 2 and June 6, you must respond to it before June 7 11:59 p.m. And for the proposals that will arrive later, you will have two days to respond to them”, informs Jérôme Teillard. Please note: if you miss the deadline, Parcoursup will consider that you are not interested in the proposal.

When will new places become available?

“As of June 3! “, informs” Mr. Parcoursup “. Because this Thursday, June 2, some candidates who have received the proposal for the training of their dreams will accept it definitively, which will free up places in the other courses.

Can we know at what rank we are positioned on the waiting list?

Yes, for each pending wish, you are shown your rank in the list. And your place is changing, since the data is updated every day. The platform also indicates the rank of the last person to have been admitted to the training last year. “This is important information. Because if you are 30th on the list and the last admitted last year was 60th, you have a good chance of being taken. So it is in your interest to keep your wish pending, ”comments Jérôme Teillard.

Before giving a final piece of advice: “At the start of the procedure, do not give up any pending wishes, because the situation is changing very quickly. On the other hand, at the end of June, the formations are already very full, so it is not necessarily worth it to keep your wishes pending”.

What if I only get rejections?

“That means you only asked for selective training. But there are always solutions,” says our expert. As of Friday, June 3, these unlucky candidates will receive a message inviting them to request an interview with a psychologist from National Education or a guidance counselor in a CIO. And this in order to receive support on their orientation project and to think about the wishes they can make during the complementary phase, which will open on June 23.

This second phase of Parcoursup allows candidates who have not found what they need to express new wishes in courses that still have vacant places. “Last year, 82,000 candidates obtained a proposal which they accepted during this phase. And there are even places in BUT, BTS and STAPS! », specifies Jérôme Teillard.

Do reorientation candidates have the same chances as baccalaureate holders?

“Yes, says Jérôme Teillard. There is no difference in treatment. Last year at the end of the process, 94% of high school students had received an admission proposal and 82% of students in reorientation. And this year, they are still very numerous on the platform (186,000).
