Alexis Corbière (LFI) conditions the return to the group of the deputy “to his actions”

The deputy of rebellious France Alexis Corbière conditioned Thursday the return in April of Adrien Quatennens within his parliamentary group to his “actions”, ensuring that a new debate would take place on the elected representative of the North, condemned for domestic violence . “Depending on the actions of Mr. Quatennens, we will see if after April 13 he rejoins the group”, declared Alexis Corbière on France 2, in reference to the expiry date of the four months of exclusion pronounced by the LFI group against the member of the North during his sentence to four months in prison suspended on December 13 by justice.

Adrien Quatennens, absent since September, returned to the National Assembly on Wednesday as a non-registered person.

Quatennens suspended from the LFI group until April 13

Among the “acts” that will be scrutinized, Alexis Corbière quoted, speaking directly to the deputy for the North: “nothing that creates a diversion and that causes (…) that we are talking about something other than what is main: the 19 (January), we must go and demonstrate” against the pension reform. “Until April 13, he is suspended and after that there will be a review clause which means that we will discuss all this again,” insisted Alexis Corbière.

Adrien Quatennens, a very close friend of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, was sentenced on December 13 following a prior admission of guilt (CRPC or “plea-guilty”) for “violence without incapacity committed by spouse” between October and December 2021, as well as for “regular and malicious sending of messages” to his wife between August and September 2022. His group had then decided to exclude him for four months.

But the long television interview he gave the day after his conviction provoked strong reactions from a certain number of deputies and rebellious activists, some going so far as to ask for his definitive exclusion. During this interview, Adrien Quatennens denounced a “media lynching”. “I am not an aggressor. I am not a violent man because I recognized a slap”.
