The Italian prima ballerina Alessandra Ferri will take over the management of the Vienna State Ballet for the 2025/26 season. State Opera Director Bogdan Roščić announced this together with the future principal at a press conference in the State Opera. Ferri succeeds the German choreographer Martin Schläpfer, who is not extending his contract at his own request and is leaving the house after five years. Ferri will be involved in curatorial work and will most likely not make any of his own creations.
