Alençon: night of urban violence, 13 cars burned

Thirteen cars were set on fire during a night of urban violence from Tuesday to Wednesday in the Perseigne district of Alençon, in the Orne region.

Thirty young people are believed to be at the origin of the violence. Escorted by the police, the firefighters intervened shortly after midnight to stop the various fires. But when it came time to intervene, they were the target of mortar fire and were forced to retreat and leave the scene. No injuries are to be deplored.

An arrest at the origin of the violence

According to a police source, it is the arrest of a young person from the neighborhood earlier in the day, because he was in possession of drugs, which would be at the origin of this violence.

These started around 11 p.m. and ended around 3:30 a.m. Around half past midnight, several cars were parked across the main streets, while young people from the city, hoods over their heads, smashed car windows before throwing molotov cocktails inside, specified West France. No one was arrested.

“You have to be lucid, it has spread, there is a problem of traffic, behavior, rejection of authority”, analyzed on CNEWS this Wednesday morning, David Le Bars, secretary general SCPN UNSA.
