In an emotional Facebook post, a set employee described how the shot camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was bleeding in his arms. The man raises serious allegations against the film production.
An employee on the film set of “Rust” described his view of things on Facebook with emotional words. Serge Svetnoy was part of the western’s film crew, on the set of which actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Now the lighting technician raises serious allegations.
“I want to tell you why I think this happened. I think I have a right to it. It is due to negligence and unprofessionalism. It was negligent that the person who was supposed to check the guns on set didn’t do it. That the person who should have reported that there was a loaded gun on set didn’t do it. That the person who checked the gun before handing it in didn’t do it. The death of a person is the result, ” he writes.
“Your blood was on my hands”
Svetnoy witnessed the tragedy up close. “I stood shoulder to shoulder with Halyna when the fatal shot was fired that took her life and injured director Joel Souza. I was holding her when she died. Her blood was on my hands,” he writes. Hutchins and Svetnoy were friends, he was in almost all of their films. He looks all the angrier now. Above all, he made serious accusations against the gun master on set, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, without mentioning her name.
“I’m sure that we had professionals in every department, only not in the weapons department. A 24-year-old just can’t be a professional when it comes to handling the arsenal,” said Svetnoy. Professionals are people who have worked for years on sets that have the safety precautions “in their blood”. For the 24-year-old Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, it was one of the first major jobs as an armorer. Svetnoy therefore urges Hollywood producers not to save money in the wrong place. At least one professional belongs in every department, because their job is often dangerous.

“We film in the mountains, in the open sea, underwater. We have explosions, guns, car accidents, electrics everywhere and so much more. And to save a few dollars sometimes, you hire people who don’t do the complicated and dangerous job are qualified and risk life “, Svetnoy describes the situation. He didn’t want anyone to go through what he and Hutchins’ husband and son were going through – and what Alec Baldwin was going through. “He has to live with the fact that he killed someone because others were unprofessional.”
