PSG and ECA President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has the Barcelona FC in a speech on “financial sustainability”. La Liga-President Javier Tebas, however, now contradicted and defended the Catalans.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, in his capacity as President of the European Club Association, gave a speech reminding FC Barcelona of financial sustainability. “The new rules on financial sustainability are a positive development. The rules control costs, encourage investment and new investors. They will ensure the sustainability of football,” he noted while also sending a warning. “We have to be careful, because dangerous debt and a magical injection of capital are not a sustainable path for the future,” he said.
La Liga president Javier Tebas, on the other hand, defends the heavily indebted club. “There is no magic. Barcelona sold part of their assets to cover their losses,” he noted. At PSG, on the other hand, Nasser Al-Khelaifi “opens the money tap”. According to Tebas, for “sustainable football, the debts must first be paid off”.
