Airport – sale remains uncertain – economy

The controversial sale of the insolvent Frankfurt-Hahn Airport to a billionaire from Russia remains pending. After consultations with the airport’s creditors, insolvency administrator Jan Markus Plathner said on Tuesday that one of two sales contracts that had already been concluded had “not been approved”, but that a decision could be made about it later. “The investor and the seller have jointly decided to submit this contract to the relevant authorities and to ask for a decision on it – namely at the Federal Ministry of Economics.” For reasons of confidentiality, the insolvency administrator did not give a name. According to insiders, this is the highest bid made by NR Holding. It belongs to the Russian investor Viktor Charitonin and operates the Eifel racetrack Nürburgring. Politicians have criticized the takeover of the airport by the Russians.
