AI in the workplace: How to prevent surveillance – Business

Companies have long been using programs to screen their employees. Laws are on the way, but we don’t have to wait for them.

Some inventions have the potential to change people’s lives in unexpected ways. In mining, for example, for a long time so-called water workers had to drain the tunnels with buckets. This was extremely laborious work that cost a lot of manpower and therefore money. At some point the first hand-operated machines were used, and the breakthrough came in 1712. The English inventor Thomas Newcomen had developed a device that could pump water up: the first steam engine. Newcomen certainly did not think that this would one day be used to transport millions of people across entire continents on rails.
