Again preventive detention for climate activists in Bavaria – Bavaria

A 24-year-old activist from the climate protection movement “Last Generation” is in preventive detention for up to two weeks. As the police announced on Tuesday, the young man was taken into custody by officers in Passau on Monday after he had taken part in a protest. A judge at the district court there ordered the continuation of the deprivation of liberty.

The activist had previously taken part in similar actions and it was to be feared that he would “commit further administrative offenses of considerable importance to the general public or criminal offences,” it said. The 24-year-old is now in a correctional facility. In Munich and Kempten, too, climate activists temporarily caused traffic delays on Monday. However, none of those involved was taken into preventive detention. However, preliminary investigations were initiated against the activists on suspicion of coercion in road traffic.
