Gareth Bale has spoken about his future with the national team after losing to Wales in the group stage. The 33-year-old would like to continue playing for Wales.

Wales were eliminated from the World Cup after losing 3-0 to England. However, this does not automatically mean that Gareth Bale will leave the national team, as the 33-year-old emphasized after the game.

For Bale, it was already over at half-time against the Three Lions. The team’s superstar had to be substituted off injured at the break and watch as England won the game in the second 45 minutes.

For Wales, the first World Cup since 1958 ended prematurely. After the game, however, Bale said he would like to continue playing for the national team. When asked if he would like to take part in Euro 2024 qualifiers, Bale told BBC Sports: “I will continue as long as I can and as long as I’m needed. It’s a difficult moment, but it’s moving on.”

Wales failed to win a game in Qatar, an opening draw with USA followed by defeats by Iran and England. While Bale is proud of guiding Wales to the World Cup, he admitted that Qatar had hoped for more.

“Everyone is disappointed but we are all proud of what we have achieved,” he said. “We have to see how far we’ve come. Of course we wanted to get out of the group, but football is difficult. We didn’t live up to our expectations at this tournament.”

“If we had been told two years ago that we were going to play in a World Cup, we would all have wet our pants. We will all walk out of the dressing room with our heads held high and proud of ourselves. It was difficult at this tournament, we didn’t play very well, but we gave it our all and we won’t regret it,” said Bale, who now plays for Los Angeles FC in the United States.
