After the threats of Indochina and Louise Attack, the Déferlantes will not go to Perpignan

The breaking waves will not take place in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales). The wave of protests, after the announcement of the move of the festival from Céret to the Catalan capital, pushed the organizers to decide to find a new place for next summer. Indochine, then Louise Attaque, had let it be known that they would cancel their concerts at Les Déferlantes if the event took place in the city managed by Louis Aliot (RN).

In addition, many Internet users had criticized the choice of setting, the surroundings of the Parc des Expositions, less charming than the vines of previous editions.

“Without artists, no festival”

“We have heard your different reactions, writes the festival team, in a press release posted on Instagram on Tuesday. On the other hand, several artists have positioned themselves (…) and announced the cancellation of their visit if the festival was held in Perpignan. As you know, without artists, no festival. We are forced to give up this location and we are looking for a new place so that the festival can be held in the Pyrénées-Orientales on the dates planned. »

The Déferlantes team indicates in its press release that it would take “several weeks” to define a new site, capable of accommodating 30,000 people.
