A 31-year-old man was referred on Tuesday for his indictment for “murder preceded, accompanied or followed by rape”, after the discovery of the lifeless body of a young 18-year-old woman in a squat in Lyon, a indicated the floor.

The body was found on Sunday by the police in the 7th arrondissement. The elements found on the spot made it possible to identify this young woman, residing in Villeurbanne and whose disappearance had been reported by her parents on June 9. An investigation for worrying disappearance was then opened by the prosecution.

He “knew the victim”

In the criminal investigation entrusted to the Rhône departmental security, a 31-year-old man, who “attended the squat and knew the victim”, was arrested and placed in police custody.

The investigations made it possible “to bring this same individual closer to a complaint filed by another young woman aged 20 for rape, committed in this same squat, on April 4”, explained the prosecution.

At the end of his police custody, this man, known for violence committed in 2020 and 2021, was referred “with a view to the opening of an open judicial investigation into the count of murder preceded, accompanied or followed by rape for the first facts and of the count of rape for the second”, specified the prosecution which requested his placement in pre-trial detention.
