The federal prosecutor’s office has brought charges against a “Reich citizen”. The man is said to have shot police officers with an automatic rifle in April. Two officers were injured in the raid in Boxberg, Baden-Württemberg.

Ingo K. is accused, among other things, of multiple attempted murder and physical assault. The “Reichsbürger” is said to have shot at police officers during an operation. The federal prosecutor’s office has now filed charges against him.

In April, special forces from the Baden-Württemberg police wanted to search his apartment in Boxberg in the Main-Tauber district. The raid involved a Glock pistol, which the police assumed was K.’s, although he shouldn’t have owned such a weapon.

Rapid fire rifle shots

The accused was after SWR information already at that time with the authorities as a violent “Reich citizen”. The special forces approached the raid with loud calls and switched on the siren, thus identifying themselves as police officers.

According to the federal prosecutor’s office, however, K. did not open the door and shot the police through the closed shutters of his apartment with a rapid-fire rifle. Two officers were injured.

One of the police officers was hit in both legs, while another, who was looking for cover, suffered minor injuries to his elbow. The accused changed position several times during the shooting to meet the police officers, the federal prosecutor said.

Found 5000 rounds of ammo

From investigative circles it is said to the SWR, only the sovereign reaction of a SEK official prevented a bloodbath at the time. The policeman is said to have placed his protective shield in the salvo of the rifle.

Ingo K. only left his apartment after two hours. According to the indictment, several firearms were found on him, including three automatic rifles and two submachine guns, as well as more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition. The “Reich citizen” was therefore not entitled to own the weapons.

In custody since April

The man has been in custody since April 21. He represents the ideology of the “Reich citizens”, denies the existence of the Federal Republic and does not recognize the sovereign powers of its representatives, said the federal prosecutor.

The Federal Public Prosecutor took over the case because of its special importance. The Stuttgart Higher Regional Court must now examine whether it will allow the indictment and open the main proceedings.
