After government statement: Bavarian economy praises Söder’s plans – Bavaria

The Bavarian Association of Chambers of Industry and Commerce (BIHK) sees the government statement by Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) as “a strong signal for Bavaria as a business location”. The plans for simplified building and planning law and faster digitalization in administration take up key demands from entrepreneurs. Better financing for small and medium-sized businesses and start-ups and the transformation fund are useful impulses to promote the willingness to invest in the economy.

“For the Bavarian economy, which is burdened by many laws and regulations from Brussels and Berlin, the modernization and acceleration program presented is a very welcome and encouraging announcement,” said Managing Director Manfred Gößl on Thursday in Munich. Now the state government must implement the announced measures quickly. The Bavarian Association of Chambers of Industry and Commerce represents 990,000 member companies of all sizes and sectors, making it the largest business organization in the Free State.

The Bavarian Chamber of Crafts (BHT) also reacted positively to the program presented in the state parliament, with which Söder wants to reduce bureaucracy and stimulate the economy. “Accelerating construction in general, making distances more flexible and increasing de minimis limits are the right steps to help the ailing construction industry get back on its feet,” said Chamber of Crafts President Franz Xaver Peteranderl, warning: “Now it’s time to put the plans into action quickly.” In order to make it easier to set up new craft businesses and take over existing ones, bureaucracy and statistical obligations for small companies must be urgently reduced. 22,000 Bavarian craft businesses are due to be handed over in the next five years.

The unions particularly welcomed the establishment of a transformation fund. DGB regional chairman Bernhard Stiedl said: “Today’s government statement shows that the Prime Minister has recognized the signs of the times.” He took up many of the unions’ demands. The distribution of transformation aid must be linked to job security and location security, demanded Stiedl. Annual additional investments of 22 billion euros are needed for energy, infrastructure, housing and health.
