After the arrest of a suspect in the case of the dead florist in Lichtenfels, Franconia, the local Meranier high school is in shock. The 17-year-old suspect, a high school student, was taken into custody after class on Friday. “The bewilderment in the school is huge,” said director Thomas Carl in the SZ interview.
A team met at the school at the weekend to discuss the matter. Because of the strike, online lessons were scheduled for Monday, and from Tuesday there are plans to offer talks for students at the school. The arrest hit the school family “like a bolt from the blue,” said the director. But the presumption of innocence applies.
The 17-year-old is in a juvenile detention center. He is suspected of killing a 50-year-old florist on March 10, 2023. Investigators have not released any official information about a possible motive.
