He was expected in the area for mid-February. A few weeks late, the impressive ship Aeolus will be back in the coming days in the bay of Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d’Armor). His arrival marks the resumption of the construction site of the future offshore wind farm, which had been put on hold this winter. Work will now accelerate, as the park of 62 wind turbines is due to come into service in December.
Once in the area, the ship Aeolus will tackle the 22 positions that still need to be drilled. In the process, the last “jacket” foundations, which will serve as supports for the wind turbines, will also be installed. Once this step has been completed, a major project will start before the summer with the installation of the first 8 Megawatt turbines designed by Siemens Gamesa on their foundations.
Commissioning scheduled for December
The offshore wind farm will then be operational but its commissioning will be “gradually and in installments: 20%, 50% and 100% in December 2023”, specified at the start of the year Ailes Marines, a subsidiary of the Spanish giant.
