After a suspicion of avian flu, preventive measures in 26 municipalities

After a rather quiet winter with few alerts linked to avian flu, it may be back in the Landes. In a decree dated May 8the Landes prefecture explains that “the clinical signs and unfavorable laboratory results for waterfowl” from a farm in the municipality of Bordères-et-Lamensans in the Landes lead to the surveillance of 26 municipalities located around the breeding in question.

This decree prohibits the movement of poultry and reinforces biosecurity measures (cleaning, disinfection, etc.) to prevent any spread of the avian influenza virus. Gatherings of birds at events such as fairs, markets and exhibitions are also prohibited. New analyzes will be carried out and should make it possible to confirm or invalidate the suspicions around this new case.
