The SPD politician and former finance minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Jens Bullerjahn, is dead. His former state secretary Jörg Felgner confirmed to the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung that Bullerjahn fell asleep peacefully in a clinic in Eisleben in the presence of his closest family.
Bullerjahn was only 60 years old. In May he made it public that he had the rare nervous disease ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). ALS is a degenerative disease of the nervous system. This leads to muscle weakness and muscle wasting. At that time, Bullerjahn said he had known about the disease for a good year. At this point he was already vocally impaired and needed a walker. Despite illness, he published the book “Germany and His Money” that year.
