AfD MPs insist on their doctorate – Bavaria

The party is known to be incorrect when it comes to interpreting facts or dealing with political opponents. With your own doctorate, however, it has to be very precise.

Before the general election, the SZ reporter received an angry email from the AfD. He had previously attended a rally against vaccination in Deggendorf and reported on the speech by an AfD candidate, a doctor by profession. The latter now wrote that the reporter was the “decline of the quality press” and should pick up a diligent picture from Markus Söder for the text. What exactly bothered the man (it was precisely quoted) remained a mystery. The doctor was only specific at one point: The SZ had “suppressed” his doctorate. One would have liked to have replied that even Nobel Prize winners can handle being in the papers with no degrees. It just didn’t work, the doctor wrote: “I don’t value an answer from you.” Anyway, the information is herewith delivered.

The AfD claims that it upholds values, which apparently includes the great good of title promotion; Even diplomas are like to wear like a monstrance in the AfD. Jokes about green and left-wing college dropouts fill the column on Facebook, although one does not bother to look at one’s own people who have failed their studies or at official statistics to the contrary from politicians with a doctorate.

At the weekend, the AfD Upper Bavaria had a party conference in Rosenheim, with board elections. Ingo Hahn, ex-parliamentary group leader in the state parliament as well as doing a doctorate and habilitation in landscape ecology, missed his “Prof. Dr.” on the ballot, which he is said to have announced without grief. The descriptions differ about the details. A suggestion, a few sentences for and against, say some. Others believe that Hahn asked for the paper to be reprinted and looked “pathetic”. Hahn himself left a question unanswered on Monday.

Anyway, there are a total of two interpretations: honor where honor is due, academics should be recognizable as such for good reason. Or that of Kurt Tucholsky, even if he should hardly be regarded as the AfD’s favorite literary writer: One title spares the title holder any ability, “the rest is worried by the stupidity of those who are amazed at the title and it for the sake of the title that they do not have , but would like to have, envy “.
