Hanna Schygulla has appeared in more than 100 film and television roles in her life. Today she is 80 years old and deals with it calmly. Now she can be seen on the screen again.

The actress Hanna Schygulla deals with getting older calmly. “Old age can actually only be tolerated with humor,” said the 80-year-old in an interview with “Stern” magazine. Age is not as bad as his reputation. “There’s always a lot to overcome. But every day I’m getting better at enjoying what is,” said Schygulla.

In the interview, the actress gives insight into her everyday life. “I could have more people around me. But I feel so comfortable alone now.” She first had to “get over” the death of her companion and roommate, the Cuban actress Alicia Bustamante. “As painful as it was to no longer be with two people, I feel just as good being alone now,” she said.

In Paris, where she lives next to Berlin, she met a couple with whom she spends a lot of time. She also wants someone for her second home in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district with whom she can “do a lot together.” “It would have to be someone of a certain age who has a lot of time and with whom I can share a lot of interests. And it would be nice if warmth blossomed from the start,” she said. That is the most important thing in a relationship. “That we can cheer each other up and give each other warmth,” she emphasized.

Schygulla, who also talked about her work with director Rainer Werner Fassbinder in the interview, can be seen in a supporting role in the film “Poor Things” by Giorgos Lanthimos. The comedy starring Emma Stone opens in German cinemas today.
