French actor, nature filmmaker and producer Jacques Perrin has died at the age of 80. He died in Paris on Thursday, the AFP news agency reported, citing his family and son Mathieu Simonet.

French actor, nature filmmaker and producer Jacques Perrin has died at the age of 80. He died in Paris on Thursday, the AFP news agency reported, citing his family and son Mathieu Simonet.

Perrin has been successful in front of and behind the camera for decades. He starred in films such as “Fatal Friendship”, “The Warhorse”, “Damned to the Scaffold”, “Spy in Black” and “Pact of the Wolves”. With films such as “Microcosm – The Grass People”, the bird film “Nomads of the Air – The Secret of Migratory Birds” or the documentary “Our Oceans” he also made a name for himself as a director and conservationist.

In 2004, Perrin was the actor and co-producer of his nephew Christophe Barratier’s hit film “The Children of Monsieur Mathieu”.

Perrin has already worked as a producer on classic political thrillers such as “Z” (1969) and “The Invisible Uprising” (1972) by Greek-French director Costa-Gavras.
