Being nominated for an Oscar is very special for any actor. Brendan Fraser is no exception.

Apparently, US actor Brendan Fraser can’t quite believe his nomination for the upcoming Oscars. “I tried to keep the butterflies in my stomach under control,” said the 54-year-old in an interview with the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”.

Fraser (“The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”) says he still has to pinch himself to know if his nomination is a reality or just a dream. “It’s a new journey in my professional life.”

The American from Indianapolis is nominated for “The Whale” at the 95th edition of the important award ceremony. In the drama, he plays obese teacher Charlie, who seeks to reconnect with his daughter after leaving his family for a relationship with his husband. What Fraser loves about the character is that she always sees the good in other people, he explained.

Fraser is nominated in the Actor in a Leading Role category at the Oscars, which are being held on March 12 in Los Angeles, California. Among other things, he competes against his compatriot Austin Butler (“Elvis”) and the Irishman Colin Farrell (“The Banshees of Inisherin”).
